Active Rain Gets Me to the Top Page of Google
For the past several weeks, I have been taking a webinar "SEO to the Top"with Katerina Gasset. I am in a different position than most Active Rainers -- I am a non-competing broker-in-charge. I am not looking for top placement on Google for specific locations to get buyers and/or sellers --- I am looking for potential recruits. Also, our company recently became franchised, so I am also looking for potential franchisees.
Selecting my long tail keywords proved to be a real challenge for me because of my audience. With Katerina's help, I have been able to settle in on long tail keywords and guess what? It is working.
Before my new education, I was not able to get on the front page except when I wrote about particular subdivisions under the Localism tab.
Now, just recently, I have turned up on the first page of Google under different search titles.
With tips from the Webinar and outside help from Katerina and the assistance of Active Rain, below you will find the 2 most recent findings. The # 1 rank on this page is the company web site.

Congrats, I told you when you started that you were in a unique situation and that though you wanted to have a position, it was different than most on Activerain. I'm glad to see it is finally paying off and I hope you are getting some great recruits.
Charlie --- you are toooooo funny --- it has taken me awhile to figure all this out.
Todd --- yes, you did tell me that I had to determine my audience and go for that -- my problem was that I thought you were not supposed to "advertise" on AR and I felt that my writing about AgentOwned may be considered "advertising" by the AR gods ---So, I was never able to figure out how to blog for my audience.
Keep up the great work Liz. All you need is persistence and good things will come if you work at it.
