Now which holiday is more important? Halloween is a fun holiday, but in
my opinion, Thanksgiving should get more respect.
The stores look at Halloween and Christmas as their big events --- Thanksgiving kinda gets left out ---
Sure, there are some things in the stores for Thanksgiving, but very little in comparison.
I am not putting down the importance of the true meaning of Christmas -- it is most important to me.
Thanksgiving --- to give thanks for our country --- it is becoming more important daily that we be thankful for the country we used to have and that we have today --- we don't know about tomorrow,do we?
The stores don't even wait until after Thanksgiving to start Christmas. I think this is wrong.

I don't know about you, but I take Thanksgiving very seriously.

Liz, I could not agree with you more. The stores are only concerned about selling, not about the true meaning behind the holidays.
You are right Mama Liz!!
I think Thanksgiving in many homes (including our larger family gatherings) has come to be all about feasting and football. I must say that THIS PAST year, I have appreciated MORE than ever my freedoms of living in the USA. Seeing where our nation COULD go...and where other nations HAVE gone is very sobering to say the least. Thankful that I have a job...and get to keep most of the $. :)
I think the true meaning of Christmas has been overpowered by the whole gift buying process. It is too much of a corporate, stressful holiday now. My favorite is Thanksgiving because it brings family together with no other expectations than to enjoy great food, each other's company, and be thankful!
I think Thanksgiving is not really a retail holiday, that 's why it gets passed over. (How much food can you buy anyway?). Good thoughts though. I'm for waiting for Christmas to start until after Thanksgiving.
Hands down Thanksgiving! It is all the great things about the holiday season but focusing on family, friends, and food no focus on presents!
Hey Liz - I'm going to ask all the BananaTudes to post a thankful post. Karen gave me the idea - see her featured post. I'm thankful, thankful , thankful to have such wonderful friends like you!
Liz, I would say that my favorite used to be Halloween (when I was younger-last year), now my favorite is Thanksgiving, and it is my favorite because I love an event that pulls so many together in the spirit of togetherness....the focus on family and those that you now claim as family. It is a warm hearth and home moment for me.
I do not enjoy the fact that the stores don't wait until after Thanksgiving to start Christmas either. I know they do it because of the all mighty dollar, but we do need to give thanks for what we have and enjoy our families at Thanksgiving and not be worried about what sales we are going to hit at 6am the next morning. This is just one of the reasons I have not ever been to one of these day after Thanksgiving day sales. (The other reason is I worked one when I was a teenager and never want to be in that mess again)

Mark ---- you are so nice to stop by ---- thanks for your comment --am happy that I'm not the only one who feels this way.

Sonja ---- thanks so much for stopping by ---I agree that this past year has made a lot of us feel differently about our country.

Michael ---- the buying of Christmas presents has begun to bother me --- I would rather just get together as a family to celebrate the birth of Christ. Thanks for stopping by,

Linda ---- thanks so much for stopping by ---appreciate your comments, too.

Kristy ---- thanks so much for stopping by and for your very nice comment. I would add to family, friends and food -- our country.

Anna ---- thank you --- I, too, am thankful to have you as a friend.

Jane ---- your comment is perfect --- I could have not said it better. Thank you.

Todd ---- very interesting --- I have never been to one of those after Thanksgiving sales --- I do not like huge crowds.

Christmas decorations and sales are coming out sooner and sooner each year. I'd like to at least make it through one holiday before I see everything for the next.
Amen! More importance to Thanksgiving! I'm with you all the way on this one. I also agree on your view of Christmas presents. Over the last few years, we have spent less and less on Christmas presents. I'd rather spend time with the people who are dear to me than receive presents from them.
JL ----I agree --- I saw Christmas trees out this morning already.

Irene ---- we are definitely on the same page --- thanks for stopping by.

The real meaning of Christmas gets lost in the sales hype. I REALLY hate it when the Christmas stuff is on the shelves before Hallowwen!!
