What happens in a real estate office should not stay in the office --- that is, if it is all good stuff.
On a daily basis, sales agents come and go exchanging hellos. The broker
in charge (in the future to be called the broker) greets the agents and the public. The broker works with the staff to make the office friendly, warm and enjoyable, but professional.
The broker is experienced and very knowledgeable of real estate. The broker treats the sales agents with respect & as professionals who have a brain
The in-house loan officer goes about taking loan applications.

The broker deals with "issues" of the sales agents in such a way to build up the agent, not make them feel terrible. The broker fights for the agents in difficult situations when he/she knows the agent has not done anything illegal or immoral. The sales agents know that the broker "has their backs".
Very difficult situations are dealt with in a stern, but loving manner by the broker. The sales agent learns from the situations so as not to make the same mistake again, but still feels like the broker is "with" them.
The broker cheers when a sales agent brings in a listing --- thumbs up all
over the office.
The broker cheers when a sales agent brings in a pending sale --- thumbs up all over the office.
When a sales agent brings in a closing, there is celebration. The broker makes every effort to put a smiley face on the check.
The sales agents in the office grieve with a fellow agent if they have a death and they celebrate with a fellow agent who has a wedding, a birth or a graduation.
Now this is the kind of office everyone wants to be a part of and you want to shout from the hills.

What a great post. I wish more agents would read this since too many of them like to be the office gossip person. I think it is important to be respectful of everyone and that includes your broker.
Liz, I am fortunate to be part of such an office.
Liz, I loved your post! I think being apart of a small office makes a huge difference. Instead of being competitive we encourage each other.
I'd say that when you have found an office like thta, then you have found a good place to be.
Sounds like a great environment to work and excel in...guess they've got a great Broker like you! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Wow! If any of the BIC's in the big offices I worked in did that, maybe they wouldn't have had to install that revolving door. I like my office now- it's in my house! We only have a central office to turn in the paperwork.
Wouldn't it be great if all offices were just like that?
Liz, sounds like all offices need to learn from your post - we have been in large office 200+ agents at one site and small offices... we definitely prefer small offices where the agents encourage each other.
Active Rain had some major log in issues yesterday and I didn't get to make my rounds and tell everyone Happy Thanksgiving!
Liz Now I understand why I am happier working out of my home and have been for about a8 of my 33 years in the business

Linda ---- thanks so much for stopping by -- I was writing about my office --I have 106 agent-owners in my office and we are just like a large family.

Irene ---- thanks for stopping by,my friend. I was really talking about my office -- we are just like a large family.

Susan ---- thanks so much for stopping by and for your comments -- was talking about my office and we have 106 agent-owners right now -- we are just like a large family.

Laura ---- certainly hope that you had a great Thanksgiving weekend.

Karen ---- thanks so much for stopping by --- more and more agents are now electing to work from home.

Liz, now that sounds like one of the fun offices to work in!
Do you have a Policies & Procedures Manual for your office?
Pat ---- thanks so much for stopping by --- yes, we think our office is lots of fun and we are productive, too.

Carol & Lee --- yes, we do have a policy & procedure manual for the office because the state of SC requires it. I would bet that there is not one agent-owner who has read it.
