After Hurricane Hugo in 1989, E.C.C.O. was established  to assist thoseThe AgentOwned Realty Company -  East Cooper Community Outreach less fortunate East of the Cooper River in Charleston,SC.

ECCO has accomplished so much since its beginning and could not have done so without the help of the community.

ECCO not only provides food to the hungry, but provides a list of services:

ECCO Mission Statement:

"East Cooper Community Outreach (ECCO) is an ecumenical organization dedicated to helping our neighbors in need and providing emergency disaster relief. ECCO serves residents mainly in the area east of the Cooper River and south of the Santee Basin but also serves the entire tri-county area (Berkeley, Charleston, Dorchester) through cooperation with other organizations and agencies.

ECCO provides emergency assistance for food, clothing, household furnishings, and financial needs. As well as, ongoing services including medical, dental, prescription drug assistance, education and counseling.

All programs and services strive to guide clients toward self-sufficiency. ECCO's ministry of "Neighbors Helping Neighbors" attempts to improve the quality of life in our community in a compassionate way that respects the dignity and worth of every person."

The AgentOwned Realty has 2 offices who are collecting for the E.C.C.O. during this holiday season.  Anyone wishing to donate can drop off at either of the 2 AgentOwned Realty's offices:

East Cooper Community Outreach does not just give  to just anyone who comes to their door -- they qualify someone before they allow them in the "store" to select clothing, toys, etc.

This is an unusual charity -- one that you can trust to handle your donations, whether it be money or otherwise, with care.  One can feel good about giving to E.C.C.O.

Diane ---- I'm hoping so, too.  We are collecting a lot of stuff here at just my office, so I'm hopeful that there will be enough for all those who need it.
